It's a Catholic temple located in Cartago, where according to tradition, a indigenous from a marginal town, Puebla de los Pardos, found in 1635 a small statue of the Los Ángeles Virgin. Soon, the people attributed numerous miracles to the small statue.

A small hermitage was built initially on the site, wich was substituted by several bigger edification during the next decades. Finally, the earthquake ocurred in May 4 1910, destroyed the temple wich was reconstructed with the actual Byzantine building.

The Basílica de Los Ángeles is one of the main peregrination destinies of Costa Rica, visited mainly during the festivities of the Los Ángeles Virgin celebrated on August 2nd.
