Ir's located on the hillside of the Turrialba Volcano, and is one of the biggest and most important archeological areas discovered in Costa Rica.

It protects archeological structures as Pre-Columbian roads, monticules, bridges, water tanks, aqueducts, and other historial infraestructure. It also protects forest portion covered with evergreens, typically found in the Costa Rica pluvial forest.

It's an impressive site filled with history and traces of the first American civilizations. It's said that this was a commerce route between northem and southern American indigenous populations ( Aztecs, Mayas, Incas, etc.).
