It's located on the Central Volcanic Chain of Costa Rica. It offers easy access to its three craters, wich makes the volcano one of the most attractive to visit in the country.

Near the hilltop of the volcano there is a cloud and rain forest, that serves as an important habitat for a great number of bird and vegetation species.
